The large cruise ship MSC Lirica is docked at a port terminal on calm water. The white vessel features its name near the bow, multiple rows of square windows, orange lifeboats tucked along its side, and a dark blue funnel with the MSC logo under a bright blue sky.

MSC Lirica

MSC's first newbuild, last of the four to be lengthened, and the one that still sails to Alexandria

Aboard

  • The first ship MSC Cruises ordered new rather than bought secondhand, delivered March 2003
  • Lead ship of the Lirica class and namesake of the four

  • A 24-meter midsection took her from 59,058 to 65,591 gross tons
  • Mykonos on more of her weeks than either of her own homeports
  • Eleven-night runs from Venice-Marghera to Alexandria, Port Said and Limassol

The Greek Isles

Whitewashed villages spilling down volcanic cliffs, harbors the color of a swimming pool, and ruins you walk through rather than past; the Aegean is small enough that a week reaches a genuine cross-section of it.
