The massive cruise ship MSC World America floats on calm water under a clear blue sky. The white vessel features a futuristic, multi-tiered design with hundreds of balconies and a line of orange lifeboats. A yellow boom floats in the foreground water.

MSC World Atlantic is the fourth ship of the World class and she does not yet exist as a floating hull. She is under construction at Chantiers de l’Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire, delivery is planned for 2027, and she is designed to the same 333-meter, 47-meter, LNG-burning template as MSC World Europa, MSC World America and MSC World Asia. Four more sisters are on order behind her for 2029 through 2031, which is the clearest possible statement of how MSC intends to keep growing.

She is the second of the class built for the United States, and the pairing is deliberate: World America holds Miami, World Atlantic takes Port Canaveral. Between them MSC will have its two largest and newest ships based ninety minutes apart on the Florida coast, aimed at the two biggest embarkation markets in the world.

What to expect

The class is settled enough by now that the shape of her is not in doubt. Expect the Y-shaped open stern with cabin towers looking down onto an outdoor promenade, a multi-deck dry slide, a district layout separating the family neighborhood from the entertainment one, and the MSC Yacht Club gated forward at the top of the ship with its own restaurant, lounge, pool and butler service. Expect liquefied natural gas in the tanks, which is still rare for a Florida-based ship.

Expect too the commercial structure, which MSC does not vary between ships. The same cabin sells at three prices, Bella with the room assigned to you, Fantastica with your choice of room plus room-service breakfast and flexible dining, Aurea adding a thermal-spa pass, priority boarding and a drinks package, and the Yacht Club sits above all three as a separate product rather than a better fare. Drinks, wi-fi, specialty dining and gratuities are extra unless bundled, which is the mechanism that makes the lead-in fare as low as it is. Expect the food to be Italian in its instincts even on a Florida ship: pasta as its own course, more fish and less fried food than an American line serves, and espresso rather than drip coffee.

What is not yet public is her interior naming, her entertainment lineup and her final measured tonnage; the class table currently carries a planned figure rather than a surveyed one, so this page does not quote it. Deck plans and cabin categories for a ship this far from delivery move, sometimes late, and MSC has shifted features between sisters before. Treat anything specific you read about her fit-out today as provisional.

Where she actually sails

Port Canaveral, round trip, and nothing else. Every departure on sale starts and finishes there, from her first on November 13, 2027 onward.

The pattern is the Florida standard done at MSC’s length. Seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean weeks call at Nassau, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, and then either Grand Turk and Puerto Plata or Cozumel and Costa Maya. Ocean Cay and Nassau both turn up on nearly every week she runs. Nearly half the calendar, though, is fourteen nights, sold as the Eastern and Western halves back to back with no repeated port. A couple of thirteen- and fifteen-night variants and a stray six- and eight-nighter fill in around holidays.

There is no repositioning season and no European summer. She is a Florida ship from her first day, which is worth noting because it is unusual; MSC has historically sent its newest hardware to Europe first and let the United States have it second-hand. Between this ship and MSC World America in Miami, that pattern is over.

The Ocean Cay day is the one to plan around. MSC’s private island in the Bahamas is a rehabilitated aragonite sand-mining site, replanted, with a marine reserve around it, and the ships stay into the evening rather than leaving in the afternoon. It is a quieter and less commercial day than the equivalent private island on a competing line, and on a fourteen-night booking you will get two of them.

Who she suits

Families sailing from Central Florida who want the newest hardware available, and anyone who would rather use Orlando’s airport and Port Canaveral’s terminals than fight PortMiami traffic. The fourteen-night option is the genuinely distinctive thing on her calendar; very few ships based in Florida sell a full fortnight as a standard product, and on a brand-new ship at MSC’s fares it is one of the better-value long Caribbean cruises going.

She is the wrong booking for anyone who wants a short break; nothing under six nights is on sale and the bulk of the program is one or two full weeks. She is also, at this stage, a ship being booked on a rendering; if you need to see photographs of the actual room you will sleep in before you pay a deposit, wait for her sister MSC World America to be reviewed properly and book that instead, or wait until this one is delivered.
