Disney Fantasy

Disney Fantasy is the second of the two Dream-class ships and the closer sister of any pair in the Disney fleet, same yard, same hull form, same 1,250 staterooms, delivered fourteen months after Disney Dream. What separates them now is a refit, a name on one dining room, and a deployment that has moved a long way from what she was designed for.

What is different from the Dream

Not the steel. The differences are worth naming precisely because there are so few of them.

Her rotational restaurants are Enchanted Garden on deck two and Animator’s Palate at the stern, both shared with her sister, and then Royal Court on deck three where Dream has Royal Palace, the same French conservatory idea under a different name and a different set of princesses. Palo and Remy sit on deck twelve, adults-only, both surcharged. The AquaDuck runs its four decks up through the forward funnel and out over the ship’s side exactly as it does on Dream. The Walt Disney Theatre seats 1,340; the Buena Vista Theater seats 399.

On the pool deck the Mexican counter-service window is Ramone’s Cantina, where the Dream has Donald’s Cantina. Both are hung off the Cars theming that has always occupied deck eleven on these two hulls.

Where she does diverge is in what she runs. Fantasy is Disney’s regular host for the day-long themed sailings, Pixar Day at Sea and its siblings, which convert an entire sea day into a single franchise, deck party and all. If that sounds like something you would pay extra to avoid, check the sailing date before you book, because they are not add-ons and they are not optional.

The 2025 drydock

She spent thirty-five days at Damen in Brest, from September 29 to November 2, 2025, immediately after her first European season out of Southampton. It was mostly the Dream’s 2024 refit repeated.

The Tower Suite is the visible piece: 2,030 square feet built into the forward funnel casing, themed to Fantasia, with two bedrooms, a children’s room with bunks, four and a half bathrooms and a two-story living room. It went where the Outlook Bar and the radio studio used to be, which is a real loss of a public space in exchange for one very expensive cabin.

Around it, the concierge lounge was rebuilt on a Hercules theme with an enlarged sundeck, and twenty-four Deluxe Family Oceanview staterooms were reclassified into concierge. The Edge tween club moved to deck five next to Vibe, and the two clubs now share outdoor space on a rota: Edge gained a little room, Vibe lost some. Senses Spa was reshaped around a bigger check-in area.

Where she actually sails

Port Canaveral, and nowhere else. Every sailing on offer leaves from and returns to Florida: three-, four- and five-night Bahamas runs calling at Nassau, Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Disney Castaway Cay, plus five-night Western Caribbean itineraries and a single ten-night Southern Caribbean voyage in the summer of 2027. Some of the four-night sailings now do both Disney islands in one week.

The median booking is five nights. She was built for seven-night Caribbean weeks and she has been shortened into the same market her fleetmates work, which is where the money is and is not obviously where the ship is at her best. A 1,115-foot hull with three main restaurants in rotation wants more than four nights to show you what it does.

Who she suits

Families with children, on a first Disney cruise, who want the full apparatus (rotational dining, the AquaDuck, the youth clubs, a proper theater) without committing to a full week. The short Bahamas format is forgiving: fly in Friday, be home Tuesday.

She is expensive in a way that is worth being blunt about. A five-night Bahamas sailing in 2026 starts around three thousand dollars for the cabin before drinks, before Palo, before flights. That is well above what the same nights cost on a mainstream line, and the ports are not what you are paying for.

She does not suit anyone who wants the ship to be quiet, anyone who resents paying twice for a soft drink package and a specialty dinner, or anyone who dislikes theming applied at full strength; on a Pixar Day at Sea sailing there is no corner of the ship that is not participating. And if you want the Bahamas rather than the boat, almost anything else in Port Canaveral goes to the same islands for less.
