Disney Destiny

Disney Destiny is the third ship of the Wish class and the newest Disney hull sailing from Florida. Structurally she is her sisters: same Meyer Werft platform, same 144,000 tons, same 1,119 feet, same rotational dining and the same AquaMouse routed above the upper decks. The class is described on the Disney Wish page and there is no point repeating it. What is worth reading about Destiny is the theme, because for once the theming changes what the rooms are rather than what they are painted.

Heroes and villains, taken literally

The organizing idea is that the antagonists get as much of the ship as the protagonists. In practice that means the bar list reads differently from any other Disney vessel: a piano bar built around Cruella de Vil, a pub themed on Pirates of the Caribbean, a lounge drawn from Doctor Strange, and a sweet shop fronted by Edna Mode. The AquaMouse short is played for villains rather than for Mickey’s usual mishaps.

The Grand Hall is the clearest break. Wish opens onto a fairy-tale atrium with Cinderella at the foot of the stairs; Destiny opens onto Wakanda, in the palette and iconography of the Black Panther films, with a Black Panther statue in the same position. It is a considerably less sugary arrival than Disney ships normally stage, and it sets up the Marvel content that runs through the rest of the ship.

Dining follows the same substitution. Two of the three rotational rooms carry over from Wish, 1923 and Worlds of Marvel, and the third is Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King, an interactive show dinner in place of the Frozen room. In the theater the headline is a Broadway-format staging of Hercules, which is why Susan Egan, the original voice of Megara, christened the ship at Port Everglades on November 10, 2025. Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté are the adults-only extras, as on the rest of the class.

Where she actually sails

Fort Lauderdale, exclusively, and year-round. Her calendar is short Bahamas runs (three, four and five nights, which is where the median of five comes from) mixed with a smaller block of seven-night Eastern and Western Caribbean sailings reaching Cozumel, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Jamaica. Essentially every departure calls at Castaway Cay or at Lookout Cay on Eleuthera, and some call at both.

Port Everglades rather than Port Canaveral is the practical detail. It is the easier port to reach if you are flying into Fort Lauderdale or Miami and the harder one if you were planning to pair the cruise with the Orlando parks, which is roughly a three-and-a-half hour drive away.

Who she suits

Families who want the newest Disney ship in the Atlantic and are willing to pay for it, and, more specifically than her sisters, households where the Marvel and villain material lands better than princesses do. On a ship where the atrium is Wakanda and the piano bar is Cruella, that is not a small distinction.

She does not suit anyone shopping on price. A Disney fare from Fort Lauderdale will commonly run well above a comparable cabin on any mainstream line leaving the same port the same week, and there is no casino and no per-drink gambling revenue quietly holding the fare down. She does not suit adults traveling without children unless they are there for the Disney of it; the adults-only areas are real but they are a minority of the ship. And if you have already sailed Disney Wish or Disney Treasure, understand what you are buying: a familiar ship with different paint, different bars and one new show.
