The massive cruise ship Celebrity Apex is docked in calm water at twilight, its multiple decks brilliantly lit up with golden lights. The vessel features a dark blue and white hull, a prominent illuminated "X" logo near the top, and a construction crane visible behind it.

Celebrity Summit

One of the few cruise ships ever built with gas turbines, stripped back to bare steel in 2019

Aboard

  • Built in 2001 at Chantiers de l'Atlantique as Summit, renamed with the Celebrity prefix in 2008
  • Driven by two General Electric gas turbines rather than diesels
  • Rebuilt in March 2019 under the Celebrity Revolution program: every cabin redone, thirty added
  • At 105 feet in the beam, narrow enough for the original Panama Canal locks
  • Alaska from Vancouver in summer, Caribbean from Tampa and San Juan in winter
