The massive white and blue cruise ship Celebrity Eclipse is docked in calm water next to a pier. The ship features multiple rows of passenger balconies, orange lifeboats along the lower side, and two dark smokestacks near the rear under a clear blue sky.

Celebrity Eclipse

Sent to rescue two thousand stranded Britons before she had carried a single paying passenger

Aboard

  • Third Solstice-class ship, delivered by Meyer Werft in April 2010
  • Her first voyage was an unscheduled repatriation run from Bilbao during the Icelandic ash cloud
  • Christened at Southampton on 24 April 2010, five days after that run ended
  • A 2025 drydock at Brest converted the internet cafe, card room and arcade into ten cabins
  • The Retreat gained a lounge on deck five and a solarium of its own on deck sixteen
  • Still has the real grass and the working glass furnace
